Will The Day Before Ever be Released? Latest Announcement Reveals December 5th Release Date

The Day Before’s History of Delays and Controversies

After numerous delays and controversies, fans of the much-anticipated zombie MMO game, The Day Before, finally have a new release date to look forward to. Previously scheduled for November 10th, the game’s developers, Fntastic, have now announced that it will launch on December 5th. This comes after several assurances from the developers that there would be no further delays, as highlighted in the game’s latest ‘Final Trailer’.

An Overview of The Day Before’s Troubled Journey

The Day Before has consistently been at the top of Steam’s most-wishlisted ranking, surpassing even highly anticipated titles like Starfield. However, its path to release has been fraught with controversies and challenges. The game has faced accusations of being a vapourware scam and has been criticized for relying on unpaid volunteers, despite also employing full-time paid staff who are referred to as “volunteers” by the developers. Additionally, The Day Before was temporarily removed from Steam earlier this year due to a trademark dispute.

The game was initially announced in early 2021 with a targeted release date of June 2022. However, this date was later pushed back to March 2023, attributed to the decision to switch to Unreal Engine 5. In January of this year, the release was further delayed to November due to trademark concerns, with plans for an upcoming beta test exclusively for those already involved in the game’s development.

The Day Before’s Gameplay: A Glimpse into the Post-Apocalyptic World

In The Day Before’s ‘Final Trailer’, released by Fntastic, viewers are treated to a preview of the game’s gameplay. The trailer showcases various elements, such as the character creator, inventory management, and scavenging for supplies in the post-apocalyptic open world. Players will encounter not only the zombie-like infected but also other players who may pose a threat and attempt to steal valuable items.

The trailer also highlights The Day Before’s diverse arsenal of weapons, each with unique characteristics and the ability to be modified within the game, aiming for a high level of realism. Players can earn Woodbury coins, the in-game currency, by completing community tasks and gathering resources. These coins can be used to purchase ammunition, weapons, gear, food, and even vehicles. The trailer showcases sports cars speeding through empty streets, reminiscent of the popular game GTA V Undead Nightmare. Additionally, players can decorate their own personal ranch with furniture and enjoy amenities such as a gym and spa, providing moments of respite among the horrors of the undead world.

The Day Before’s Early Access and System Requirements

According to the recently reopened Steam page for The Day Before, the game is set to launch in Early Access on December 10th. Fntastic plans for the Early Access phase to last between six and eight months before the full release. During Early Access, the game will be priced at $39, with a $10 increase upon its complete launch.

As for system requirements, the minimum specs include an i5-8400 processor and GTX 1060 graphics card, while the recommended specs call for an i7-8700 (3.2Ghz) processor and 1080 Ti graphics card (or their AMD equivalents). The game will occupy approximately 55GB of storage space.

The Great Anticipation: Will The Day Before Live Up to Its Hype?

December 5th will finally shed light on whether The Day Before can live up to its enormous hype. However, given its troubled history of delays and controversies, fans may still approach the release date with caution. Will this highly anticipated zombie MMO be a game-changer in the genre or simply another disappointment? Only time will tell.
