Explained: Understanding the Flaws and Frustrations of MW3’s Armor Unlocks System

Unveiling the Secret of Armory Unlocks in Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 is a popular multiplayer game that introduces an intriguing progression system called Armory Unlocks. This system offers a range of functional items that are not typically obtained through traditional character level progression. However, many players find Armory Unlocks confusing due to its hidden nature and lack of explanation. In this comprehensive guide, we will unravel the mysteries of Armory Unlocks, providing you with insights on how to effectively utilize it, unlock desired items, and optimize your gameplay to swiftly access the full catalogue.

Understanding the Concept of Armory Unlocks in MW3

Armory Unlocks serves as a new progression system in Modern Warfare 3. It encompasses various items, including essential components for your arsenal, which are not automatically earned by reaching the maximum level in the game.

Discovering the Treasures of Armory Unlocks

Currently, Armory Unlocks offers a total of 58 items, and you will need to unlock the majority of them. The Armory Unlocks page features tabs for different item categories, such as weapons, Aftermarket Parts, perks, equipment, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks. It is vital to note that not all items can be obtained through regular level progression, so don’t assume that everything you know from Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer will be automatically available.

Unlocking Armory Unlocks: Level 25 and Beyond

Access to Armory Unlocks becomes available once you reach level 25. At this rank, you can view all the challenges within Armory Unlocks and prioritize your unlocking goals. Before reaching level 25, you won’t be able to unlock the content concealed behind Armory Unlocks. After reaching this milestone, you will find a prompt under Daily Challenges. Pressing Triangle/Y on your controller will take you to Armory Unlocks, which temporarily replaces the main Challenges section.

Mastering the Utilization of Armory Unlocks

Armory Unlocks operates on a currency system called Daily Challenges. Each item on the list has a specific number of points associated with it, which you can earn by completing Daily Challenges. For example, if an item requires three points, you must complete three daily challenges to unlock it. It’s important to note that you might receive a challenge for an item that you need to unlock through Armory Unlocks. You may also encounter challenges that encourage using weapons outside your preferred progression track.

When accessing Armory Unlocks, you can view all available items and their point costs. However, remember to select the challenges you want to track your progress for. You can have up to three challenges in your queue, and their order matters. Only one challenge can be active at a time, meaning only the currently active challenge contributes towards point accumulation.

While some items on the list can also be unlocked through regular progression, it is advisable to avoid using Daily Challenges to unlock those items, such as weapon attachments, that can be obtained through standard gameplay progression.

Optimizing Unlocking Efficiency in Armory Unlocks

Daily Challenges have limitations, resetting each day after completion. However, you can maximize rewards by clearing challenges in Zombies mode and unlocking additional points to invest in the Armory. In multiplayer, after completing all three daily challenges, a Bonus Challenge will be unlocked. This bonus challenge, “Win matches to earn more points,” offers an opportunity to earn extra points by winning matches until the challenges refresh. Consequently, you can accumulate a significant number of points through this bonus challenge.

Armory Unlocks incentivizes players to focus on objectives, as winning becomes a valuable currency once daily challenges are completed. Consequently, more players engage in capturing flags and securing Hardpoints to earn significant points. However, it’s crucial to mention that this is a temporary measure, as players may revert to their usual Call of Duty playstyle once they unlock all desired items. Perhaps future iterations of Call of Duty could explore an enhanced version of Armory Unlocks, rewarding objective-focused players in the long term.
