Introducing Final Fantasy 14’s Unprecedented Viper Job: A Dual-Wielding Blademaster Unseen in the Entire Series

Final Fantasy XIV Unveils Exciting New Viper Job for Upcoming Expansion Dawntrail

Final Fantasy XIV fans can look forward to an exciting addition to the popular MMO with the introduction of the Viper job in the upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Revealed during the Final Fantasy Fan Festival in London, the Viper is a fast-paced melee DPS class armed with dual swords that can transform into a powerful two-handed weapon, reminiscent of Bloodborne’s style. This new job is a fresh addition to the Final Fantasy series and has been specifically designed for the Dawntrail expansion.

The Viper is a class that caters to players seeking another dual-wielding job, following in the footsteps of the popular Ninja class. Both jobs share dexterity melee gear, making them a perfect choice for players who enjoy swift, agile combat. Unlike previous Final Fantasy games that featured familiar jobs like Red Mage, Ninja, and Dragoon, the Viper is a unique creation for Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail expansion.

    Ferocious Combat and Exciting Abilities

The Viper job introduces a thrilling combat style, as showcased in a reveal trailer. Players will be able to unleash a rapid barrage of light attacks while dual-wielding, putting immense pressure on their foes. Once the two separate blades combine into a two-handed staff-like weapon, the character can deliver slower but more powerful attacks. Fans of Final Fantasy 9 might find this reminiscent of Zidane’s twin daggers and staffs. Additionally, the Viper can enhance their damage output with a temporary effect, indicated by a mesmerizing blue glowing aura. In the gameplay footage, the character executes a multislash attack, reminiscent of Cloud Strife’s iconic Omnislash limit break from Final Fantasy 7.

Unlocking the Viper and Upcoming Additions

The Viper will be introduced to players with the release of the 7.0 update and the Dawntrail expansion. Unlocking this new class only requires owning the expansion and having at least one other job at level 80. Prepare for an exciting journey in Ul’dah as you embark on the Viper’s starting quest.

Furthermore, game producer and director Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, teased another new job scheduled to be unveiled at the next Final Fantasy Fan Fest in Tokyo. This job will belong to the ranged magical DPS role, adding even more diversity to the available classes in Dawntrail.

In addition to the new jobs, Dawntrail will introduce a new limited job, following in the footsteps of the Blue Mage. While details about this role are scarce, players can expect this intriguing addition to arrive in the later half of the 7.X patch series.

Revamping the MMO and Expanding the Story

Dawntrail, set to release next summer, will mark the beginning of an exciting new story arc in Final Fantasy XIV, following the conclusion of the Hydaelyn-Zodiark arc in the previous expansion, Endwalker. Alongside the new jobs, players can look forward to a host of new dungeons, quests, and an impressive graphics overhaul that will breathe new life into the ten-year-old MMO.
