OpenSim Grid Stats Show Decrease in Active Users and Regions

The latest statistics for OpenSim grids show a decrease in active users and regions compared to the previous month. Grids experienced outages and some did not report their statistics for this month. New Life Italy, which had over 400 active users last month, did not report its stats this month. Other grids that had over 100 active users last month but were either down or did not report stats include Arkham Grid, Sharing Is Caring Family, Virtual Melody, Calypso, and Impulse Grid. Additionally, Eureka World, an educational grid, saw a decline of over 500 active users, possibly due to the summer holidays.

Currently, there are a total of 2,584 OpenSim grids being tracked. Out of these, 419 were active this month, and 268 published their statistics. The largest grids by land area are still OSgrid, Wolf Territories Grid, and Kitely.

The statistics also reveal the top 25 grids by active users. OSgrid tops the list with 4,759 active users, followed by Wolf Territories Grid with 3,044, and DigiWorldz with 1,950. The active user numbers are based on unique 30-day logins reported by the grids. Wolf Territories Grid had the highest increase in active user numbers, adding 404 compared to the previous month.

Kitely Market, the largest online marketplace for OpenSim content, has a total of 20,020 product listings with 39,735 product variations. The marketplace has delivered orders to 592 different OpenSim grids.

Several notable grid updates and developments were also reported. Mech Lab in OSgrid offers a virtual reality-enabled experience for playing VR games and exploring virtual worlds. RRD Fashion Exclusives store in My Virtual Beach grid will temporarily close to revamp its designs and introduce newer mesh styles. Sea of Tranquility, a new social region, will open on the I Love You Grid, providing activities and places for couples to explore.

The report also covers new grids added to the database, grids that are no longer active, and the top 40 grids by land area.

Despite the decrease in active users and regions, OpenSim continues to be a popular platform for creating virtual worlds and offers a range of options for users to explore and engage with content.
