Xiaomi 13T Pro: A Compelling Smartphone with Impressive Features
Xiaomi has managed to pack some remarkable features into an affordable package known as the 13T Pro. With an excellent Leica-branded camera, a large display, and impressive specs, this smartphone offers a taste of Xiaomi’s top-tier technology while keeping the price reasonable.
Xiaomi’s Flagship Features at a Lower Price
Xiaomi’s flagship devices, such as the 13 Ultra and Mix Fold 3, come with a hefty price tag and limited availability. However, the 13T Pro offers an excellent alternative for those looking for Google services pre-installed and wider availability in the UK and across Europe. Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the US. The model I tested came with 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, and a price tag of £700 or €800. While it may not be cheap, the 13T Pro provides great value for the money.
An Underwhelming Design with an exceptional Display
The Xiaomi 13T Pro’s design is uninspiring, with nothing particularly eye-catching about it. It is large but relatively lightweight and easy to handle. The reflective glass back of the black unit I reviewed was prone to smudges. However, the large beveled camera module stands out against the green or faux leather finish options. Overall, while lacking the elegance of the 13 Ultra, the 13T Pro’s design is a bit dull.
On the other hand, the smartphone’s 6.67-inch AMOLED display is impressive. With a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, the screen is sharp, legible, and offers a smooth viewing experience. It boasts a peak brightness of 2,600 nits for HDR highlights and supports Dolby Vision. The 13T Pro is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and comes with a screen protector installed. Additionally, it has an IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating, making it resistant to the elements.
Great Performance and Multimedia Features
The in-display fingerprint sensor on the 13T Pro is responsive and quick to unlock the device. The stereo speakers, located at the top and bottom of the frame, produce decent sound, although covering them accidentally while holding the phone may affect audio quality. Nevertheless, overall, the device offers a satisfying multimedia experience.
An Impressive Camera Setup
One of the standout features of the Xiaomi 13T Pro is its triple-lens camera. The setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens offering 2X optical zoom, and a fixed-focus 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. The camera is tuned by Leica, allowing users to choose between Authentic mode for natural colors or Vibrant mode for saturated pop.
The camera performs exceptionally well in various scenarios, whether indoors, in low light, or on overcast or sunny days. During my testing at Disneyland Paris, I managed to capture impressive shots of our vacation. I particularly appreciate Leica’s Authentic style, as it accurately reproduces colors. The nighttime and indoor performance of the camera also left me impressed.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro is a compelling smartphone that manages to offer high-end features at a more affordable price point. With its remarkable camera, large display, and impressive performance, it caters to those looking for a taste of Xiaomi’s flagship technology without breaking the bank.
