Starfield modification enables players to construct custom spacestations – “all the necessary code already exists within the game”

Starfield Mod Lets You Build Your Own Space Stations

Unlock the Hidden Functionality in Bethesda’s Starfield RPG

In exciting news for fans of Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG, a talented modder has created a Starfield mod that allows players to build their own space stations. It seems that this functionality was secretly included in the game all along, and now players can finally unlock it and explore the depths of space in their very own custom-made space bases.

    A Modder’s Dream

The modder responsible for this impressive creation is vexthecollector, who has aptly named their mod “Spacestations for Outposts.” With this mod, players can now assemble habitation modules, windows, and docking bays to construct their own version of the iconic Deep Space Nine. However, it is worth noting that in order to access the mod’s features, players must first build an outpost on a planet.

In a statement on the NexusMods page, vexthecollector reveals that all the necessary code for the mod was already present in the game, although some elements were broken and didn’t function correctly. Even with the mod, there are still some minor issues, such as docking problems, but overall, the mod offers an exciting new gameplay experience.

    Building Your Space Station

So how does the mod work? Once you have established an outpost, navigate to the Misc section in the building menu and create a spacestation control pad. Then, interact with the small terminal on the control pad by clicking it once, waiting a moment, and then clicking it again. This will display a message prompting you to “modify space station,” which will, quite strangely, convert the last Starfield ship you acquired into a prototype starbase.

To ensure your space station is fully equipped, vexthecollector advises adding at least three docking units, or five for extra safety. Currently, all components are free in the mod, as the modder didn’t want to spend the time assigning values to each individual item. Once you have finished customizing your space station, save your progress and exit, just like when modifying a ship in the unmodded Starfield. Then, take to the stars and marvel at your newly created masterpiece.

    A Few Considerations

While the mod offers incredible possibilities for players, there are a couple of caveats to keep in mind. Firstly, similar to regular ship customization, decorations placed on the space station will disappear if you make any further modifications. If you wish to embellish your creation, you will need to install an additional mod specifically designed for decorating space stations.

In addition, it is important to note that Bethesda has officially announced mod support for Starfield, set to be released in 2024. This means that players can expect even more exciting modding possibilities in the near future. However, until then, players can enjoy the creations of talented modders like vexthecollector, who continue to push the boundaries and enhance the Starfield experience.

The Starfield modding community has wasted no time in exploring new frontiers and expanding the possibilities of Bethesda’s spacefaring RPG.
