Today’s Call of Duty Livestream Reveals Major Modern Warfare III Updates

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III: Major Announcements from COD Next Showcase

    Multiplayer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III takes the popular first-person shooter franchise to new heights with its latest installment. The multiplayer mode is back and better than ever, featuring sixteen maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These maps have been updated to be compatible with newer game modes such as Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed. Ground War modes have also been expanded with larger-scale maps to accommodate more players in wider areas.

Perks have been reworked into gear items, allowing players to customize their loadouts even further. Gloves can be equipped to adjust reload speed or scavenge items from enemies, boots can be equipped to reduce fall damage or increase movement speed, and gear can be equipped to reduce damage from explosions or resist flash grenades. The gunsmith mechanics have also been enhanced with the introduction of Aftermarket Parts, which allow players to completely remix a weapon’s functionality. These parts are unlocked after maxing out a weapon’s level and completing a specific challenge.

Other features returning from previous games include map-voting, the classic red-dot minimap, and a health boost up to 150. Quality-of-life improvements have been made to increase mantle and slide speeds, as well as new animations for canceling slides and reloads. Additionally, a new mode called Cutthroat has been introduced, offering intense, close-quarters battles with three teams of three.

    Zombies

The highly anticipated Zombies mode is making its return in Modern Warfare III with a twist. This time, Zombies is going open-world, featuring the largest map yet, complete with vehicles. Players will be part of different squads and can choose to collaborate or go their own way. They will also have to avoid the Aether Storm, which slowly consumes the map.

This version of Zombies is designed for long-term replayability, allowing players to gain blueprints and weapons that increase their survivability in later games. Weapons can be stored for future use, allowing players to start their next game with their preferred loadout. Blueprints also grant upgrades like the life-extending Juggernog. The map not only features zombies but also mercenaries hired by the game’s main antagonist, adding more challenges and variety to the gameplay.

    Warzone

The biggest announcement of the day is the introduction of Urzikstan, a new map for the popular Warzone mode. Described as “the Middle East meets Eastern Europe,” Urzikstan will launch with Warzone’s next season in December. The map features eleven points of interest, including Levin Resort, Popov Power, Zaravan City, Shahin Manor, and more.

The update also brings new features to Warzone, including horizontal ziplines and a driveable train that can be controlled by players. Warzone-specific perks have been added, such as Shrouded, which deploys a smoke grenade when the player is downed, and Resolute, which increases movement speed when hit. Quality-of-life improvements have been made, including automatic gas mask equipping, easier contract finding, and smoother character movement.

    Conclusion

Call of Duty fans have a lot to look forward to with Modern Warfare III. The game’s multiplayer mode offers an expansive experience with updated maps, gear items, and personalized weapon functionality. Zombies mode takes players on an open-world adventure, while Warzone introduces a new map and exciting features to enhance gameplay. With its multitude of announcements, the COD Next Showcase has generated much excitement for the upcoming game.
